Starting Sept. 2, people in Greater Victoria will have a great chance to do something fun with art.

Free Gallery Days is held at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria every first Saturday of the month from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and every Thursday evening from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. This is a special chance for everyone to enjoy the gallery’s beautiful art, interesting exhibits and fun events without having to pay an admission fee.

“We’re so proud to support the AGGV with the creation of the Feel Free program,” said Bruce Gray, Vancouver Island District vice-president, TD Bank Group. “Art is something everyone deserves to experience – it serves as a catalyst to connect communities, create conversation and draw inspiration. Through the TD Ready Commitment, our corporate citizenship platform, we’re helping organizations focused on increasing access for people to take part in arts and culture activities.”

No matter if you live here or are just visiting, you can now look at the amazing art on show without having to worry about paying. And it’s not just for people on their own—you can bring your family and friends along, too, for a shared learning experience. Inside the gallery, you can explore a world where art comes to life and the stories behind it are revealed.

“We are thrilled to have TD Bank Group supporting this program which provides free community access to art,” said Nancy Noble, AGGV director/CEO. “TD Bank Group has supported the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria for the last 16 years through their sponsorship of the TD Art Gallery Paint-In. We are extremely grateful that they have now extended their support to this year-round initiative.”

This fall, visitors can see the current exhibitions, The Street, Symbiosis, and While Black: A forum for speculation on what the gallery can’t hold, as well as future exhibitions. Unexpected: The Life and Art of Canadian Artist Sophie Pemberton opens on Sept. 23, Tender Touch opens on Nov. 25 and In the Flesh opens on Dec. 9.
