In Loving Memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Montgomery on April 20th, 2024, at the age of 77. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his devoted wife, daughters & loving sister at Ayre Manor Lodge in Sooke BC.

Born in 1947, Terry dedicated 28 years of his life to the armed forces, serving with honour, dedication, and courage. His commitment to service continued even after his retirement, as he embraced various roles, including a gas station attendant, flagger, and courier driver.

Later in life, Terry found joy and fulfillment as a fast-pitch and slow-pitch umpire for both kids and adults. His fairness, knowledge, and integrity on the field earned him immense respect from players, coaches, and fellow umpires alike.

Terry was also a passionate volunteer at the local legion, dedicating his time to support and serve his community. His selflessness and commitment to helping others made a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Above all, Terry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in their accomplishments. His quick wit, infectious laughter, and warm smile lit up every room he entered, making people feel welcomed and cherished.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. His memory will forever be cherished by his beloved wife of 49 years, Dawn, his daughters Janice Marchak (and her husband Ron) Denise Lecouteur (and her husband Stephane,) his 3 grandchildren Madison, Brenden, & Loyal, his sisters & brothers, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Plus, a community of friends and colleagues who were fortunate to have known him.

Dawn would also like to say a big thank you to all the wonderful people at Ayre Manor for the wonderful care they provided to Terry for the last 10 years!

A celebration of Terry's remarkable life will be held on June 9th, between 2-4 pm at the Sooke Legion. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ayre Manor in Terry Montgomery's name.

Terry's spirit will continue to inspire us to live our lives with love, compassion, and joy. Rest in peace, dear Terry.

You will be deeply missed, but your legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
